Maeve O,Bole
Singer / songwriter Maeve O'Boyle is described as a "natural lyricist" with an "exceptional" voice.
Maeve O'Boyle is a singer and songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland, whose songs are poignant, personal and deeply meaningful.
Her unique blend of melodic pop, folk and rock have already won the acclaim of many established musicians and lovers of music. Indeed, contributors on her debut album include:
Legendary Blue Nile producer Calum Malcolm;
Ricky Ross (Deacon Blue, James Blunt);
Gordon Goudie (Echo and the Bunnymen);
John McLaughlin (Busted, Westlife, Shane MacGowan);
Francis Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub, BMX Bandits)
John McCusker (Kate Rusby, Roddy Woomble, Transatlantic Sessions).
Performing from an early age, Maeve first came to prominence in 2006 when invited to perform at Celtic Connections where she won a "Danny" on The Danny Kyle Stage for new acts. Later that year she won the Artist's category in the Daily Record National Talent Search,
The following months saw Maeve adding to her songbook, with the help of writers Gordon Goudie, Ricky Ross and Francis MacDonald. Maeve says of Ricky:
"Ricky Ross encouraged me to really think about what I was writing, and to keep in mind what I wanted people to think or to feel when listening to my songs. He bought me an album by Ron Sexsmith, which he thought would inspire me. It did, and I'll never forget that!"
Writing and performing with Scotland's musical elite inspired Maeve and she carried this energy into acclaimed performances nationwide including dates with John Cale (Velvet Underground) and Sandi Thom on her sold out UK tour.
Captivating audiences up and down the country, Maeve soon gained a reputation for her natural ability to perform and to write songs. Testament to her mounting status was an entry into The Scotsman "Scots Women of the Year" in 2007 and a recommendation by the Daily Record showbiz editors as "One to Watch For".
In 2008, Maeve performed with her band in London and Glasgow as part of The JD Set showcase. She also headlined in a sell-out date at Glasgow's prestigious Oran Mor before accepting an invitation to perform at Live at Loch Lomond with Ocean Colour Scene and The Sex Pistols. Her growing reputation and versatile approach saw her perform acoustic sessions with such artists as Eleanor McEvoy (Only a Woman), Martyn Joseph, Boo Hewardine and The Mercurymen.
She has recently recorded her debut album "All My Sins", with Blue Nile producer Calum Malcolm and Stuart McCredie.
Released in June, 2009 on Linn Records, this will be the year when many audiences discover this talented young artist. With an ever-growing book of songs and a solid performing background, "All My Sins" is just an introduction to this new talent.
